New year, New Sport.

This year, I started training in powerlifting. I had my first session at the University of the Philippines the other day and I must say that I had fun doing it. My muscles were aching almost immediately after training and became worst the following day. I was having a hard time moving, particularly bending. All this because of the deadlift and squat exercises which I was doing.

My coach had me lifted a barbell weighing 60 kilogram since it was my first time. I have never lifted a barbell over my shoulder before while doing squats. I was having a hard time with the move cause you don't simply bend but have to stick your butt out and naturally bend deep. This is of course something new for me because that is how I normally squat. Now my thighs are hurting. I feel like an old man who aches every time he bends down.


All this pain ir normal though since it is my first. The same would be true to everyone who would try out a new sport. I've been watching videos of powerlifting and I must say that I'm already in love with the sport and would want to pursue it further. Don't get me wrong though, Judo is and always will be my first love! I'm looking forward to getting stronger and develop more muscles this year. Time to be fit! Powerlifting world here I come!
